Women’s Cup Campaign Begins
A challenging weekend for Railway teams lies ahead.
The Women’s 1st XV kick-off their Leinster Cup campaign when they take on Kilkenny (Leinster Division 2) in Kilkenny on Saturday 2nd February at 1pm.
Kilkenny are a strong, well established side. They finished third in Division 2 where they made the semi-final playoffs, losing to Old Belvedere J1’s. Railway, know Saturday’s game will be a tough affair as it sees them take a step towards challenging teams in higher divisions. The game will be particularly poignant for Jess O’Mahony, who plays against her hometown club.
The U21s are back in action this weekend as they face a strong Old Wesley side. A victory is necessary for the young team to keep themselves within reach of a league title and coach Matt Brown has no better motivation than to beat a team he had coached in previous years, which included some of the players on the Railway team today. The U21s are still subject to many injuries but have high hopes going into Sunday’s match. Kick-off is 12.30 in Ballycorus.
As always, all support is appreciated for both fixtures.
