Why Join Railway

Our vision is to be an inclusive, community-based rugby club and have our club cater for players of all abilities, backgrounds, nationalities and gender.

In our club, all players are equal, regardless of their ability or background.  This is one of our core principles.  There is no ‘hierarchy’ at Railway, all teams and all players mix together freely.

  • We do not work on ‘school ties’ yet many of our players come from the traditional rugby schools.
  • We are not an exclusively ‘Dublin’ club yet many of our players are from Dublin.
  • We are not an exclusively ‘country’ club yet we have our players are from all of the provinces and from almost every county in Ireland.
  • We are not an exclusively Irish club, counting members from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, England, Wales, France, Brazil, Spain and Columbia.

Many of our players have played at the highest club level and some have attained representative honours.  Many of our players play socially, some of whom their first time playing the sport is with us.

We coach to all levels and have structured ourselves to deal with all levels of ability.

As a player, we can offer you the following:

  • Top class training and playing facilities, including a club gym, changing rooms and showers, and club bar for socialising afterwards.
  • Evening matches, under our match standard floodlights.
  • Access to high level coaching.
  • Competitive, winning teams.
  • Specific one-hour technical player development skills coaching sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
  • An advanced Player Welfare Programme, led by Leinster Team Doctor Professor John Ryan and including physiotherapist and strength and condiditioning coach, that covers prehab, rehab, functional assessments, injury prevention, and achieving optimal fitness levels for rugby.
