About Women’s Rugby

Women’s rugby is becoming increasingly popular in Ireland, spanning a four division league, embracing some fifty clubs.  There is also an interprovincial series, similar to men’s rugby, and an Irish international women’s side that plays in the Six Nations and World Cup.

Rugby 7s has also been included in the 2016 Olympic Games, at which Ireland will aim to have a women’s team competing.

The Railway Union women’s rugby team was established for the 2012/13 season, after almost a year of planning.  The club has put in place the structures, support and people to ensure the success of the women’s section and enable it to achieve its goals.

The women’s rugby side at Railway Union participates fully in all aspects of the club and is given complete support.  Women’s rugby at Railway enjoys the same structures and assistance as all other teams.  This includes organisational, management, financial, coaching, player welfare, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, social and fundraising.
